Pokemon Pokopia Watermelon: Locations, Farming, Cut Watermelon, and Uses
Learn how to get Watermelon and Cut Watermelon in Pokemon Pokopia. Unlock Watermelon Seeds at Bubbly Basin Environment Level 2, grow them in fields, find Dream Island crops, and prepare Smoothie ingredients.
Author: Pokopia Guide Team
Watermelon is a Bubbly Basin material with an important processing step: it can be turned into Cut Watermelon, the required base fruit for Smoothies. That makes it more useful than an ordinary field crop. If you are preparing to explore the underwater town for a long time, Watermelon is part of the route to a Smoothie and its upgraded underwater travel effect.
This guide covers the confirmed Watermelon sources, when seeds become available, how the cutting step works, and how to avoid confusing an uncut Watermelon with the processed ingredient used by the Mixer.

You need access to Bubbly Basin before using the most reliable sources. The town is part of Expansion Pass Part 1, while the Dive move used to reach underwater content is included in the free Ver. 2.0.0 update.
How to Get Watermelon
There are three confirmed ways to obtain Watermelon. Fields in Bubbly Basin are the most direct early source. Once the town has reached Environment Level 2, buying seeds gives you a repeatable supply. Dream Islands can also contain a field with Watermelon, but that appearance is random, so it is a bonus source rather than a farming plan.
Harvest Fields in Bubbly Basin
Look for planted fields while exploring Bubbly Basin. Harvested Watermelon is ready to use as a material, but it is not yet the Cut Watermelon required by Smoothie recipes. This distinction matters: taking an uncut Watermelon to the Mixer does not replace the cutting step.
Buy and Plant Watermelon Seeds
At Bubbly Basin Environment Level 2, Watermelon Seeds become available for purchase. Plant them in a field to grow a new Watermelon. This is the dependable option when you need several Smoothies or want to keep a small stock of fruit instead of waiting for random Dream Island fields.
Raising the town's Environment Level also helps with other Bubbly Basin progression. Build habitats, improve Pokemon comfort, and finish requests if the seed is not yet in the shop.
Check Dream Island Fields
A farm field on an underwater Dream Island can randomly contain Watermelon. Treat this as an extra harvest opportunity. It is useful while gathering other Dream Island rewards, but it is not guaranteed and should not be the only source you rely on for a recipe chain.
How to Make Cut Watermelon
To process a Watermelon, give it to a Pokemon with the Cut Trees specialty. The result is Cut Watermelon. The game describes the original item as a very large, round Watermelon that a Pokemon can cut into smaller pieces, so this is an intended processing interaction rather than a separate crafting recipe.
Keep at least one whole Watermelon until you are ready to process it. The two item states serve different purposes in the collection and recipe flow:
- Watermelon is the harvested or grown material.
- Cut Watermelon is the processed ingredient used by Smoothies.
If you are looking for a specific Pokemon, use the Pokedex specialty filter to find one that can cut trees, then give that Pokemon the Watermelon. The cutting requirement is easy to miss because it is not performed at a crafting bench.
Watermelon and Smoothies
Smoothies are made by putting Cut Watermelon plus two other ingredients into a Mixer. The Mixer is obtained from a Mudkip request that appears after completing the Bubbly Basin story. Every confirmed Smoothie recipe starts with Cut Watermelon, so seed access and a cutting-specialty Pokemon are the two prerequisites worth preparing first.
Drinking a Smoothie lets you use Surf while Diving. Ditto changes into Lapras, making long underwater trips faster. This is especially useful for repeated exploration, distant caves, and return trips through Bubbly Basin after you have already opened its gate.
Do not spend all of your Cut Watermelon on a single recipe if you are still testing ingredients. Grow or harvest several Watermelons first, then process a batch so you can try different ingredient combinations without interrupting your underwater exploration.
What to Do First
- Unlock Bubbly Basin and raise it to Environment Level 2.
- Buy Watermelon Seeds and plant them in a field.
- Harvest the Watermelon and give it to a Pokemon with Cut Trees.
- Keep the resulting Cut Watermelon for the Mixer.
- Complete the Bubbly Basin story and Mudkip's request to obtain the Mixer.
- Combine Cut Watermelon with two other ingredients to make a Smoothie before a long Dive session.
Watermelon FAQ
Can I get Watermelon before Environment Level 2?
Yes. You can find it in Bubbly Basin fields, and a Dream Island field can randomly contain it. Environment Level 2 is the point where buying seeds makes the supply repeatable.
Why will my Watermelon not make a Smoothie?
Smoothies require Cut Watermelon, not the whole Watermelon. Process it through a Pokemon with the Cut Trees specialty first.
Is a Dream Island the best place to farm Watermelon?
No. Dream Island field appearances are random. Bubbly Basin seeds are the stable method once they are unlocked.
