Pokemon Pokopia Smoothies: Mixer Unlock, All Recipes, and Underwater Surf
Make Smoothies in Pokemon Pokopia with Cut Watermelon and two ingredients. Unlock the Mixer through Mudkip's Bubbly Basin request, use Surf while Diving, and check all six known Smoothie recipes and offering effects.

Smoothies are the key food for faster underwater travel in Bubbly Basin. Drink one to use Surf while Diving: Ditto turns into Lapras and can move through the sea more quickly. Every known recipe begins with Cut Watermelon, so prepare Watermelon Seeds and a Pokemon with the Cut Trees specialty before you unlock the Mixer.
Unlock the Mixer
The Mixer is a reward from a Mudkip request that appears after completing the Bubbly Basin story. Once it is available, put Cut Watermelon and two other ingredients into the Mixer to make a Smoothie.
Whole Watermelon does not substitute for Cut Watermelon. Give Watermelon to a Pokemon with the Cut Trees specialty first. See Watermelon and Cut Watermelon: Locations and Uses for the seed unlock and processing route.
Why Smoothies Matter
Drinking any Smoothie upgrades Surf during Dive. It is valuable when you are repeatedly crossing Bubbly Basin, entering long caves, or collecting materials around the underwater town. The effect is movement-focused; prepare a Smoothie before leaving a convenient Mixer instead of waiting until you are already deep underwater.
Known Smoothie Recipes
| Smoothie | Ingredients | Offering effect |
|---|---|---|
| Watermelon Smoothie | Cut Watermelon + two flexible ingredients such as Leaf | Ancient items appear somewhat more often |
| Sea Grapes Smoothie | Cut Watermelon + Sea Grapes + one ingredient | Ho-Oh and Lugia appear somewhat more often |
| Rawst Smoothie | Cut Watermelon + Rawst Berry + one ingredient | Ancient items appear somewhat more often |
| Red Hot Smoothie | Cut Watermelon + Ripe Carrot + one ingredient | Pokemon appear in habitats somewhat more often |
| Refreshing Soda Smoothie | Cut Watermelon + Soda Pop + Aspear Berry | Better shop stock appears much more often |
| Coffee Parfait Smoothie | Cut Watermelon + Moomoo Milk + Coffee Bread | Rare items are found much more often |
The last column applies when the Smoothie is offered. Recipe ingredients should be checked before mixing: a flexible slot can accept an ingredient that does not turn the result into a different dish.
Cut Watermelon Is the Ingredient to Stockpile
The main bottleneck is usually not the Mixer itself but maintaining enough Cut Watermelon. Watermelon has to be grown and then processed by a Pokemon with the Cut Trees specialty before it becomes usable in a Smoothie. Keep a small reserve after harvesting rather than immediately using every piece, especially once you start planning longer Dive routes.
The other two slots determine which named Smoothie you make. A basic Watermelon Smoothie is the economical option when you only need underwater Surf, because it can use flexible ingredients such as Leaves. Named recipes are worth saving for a specific offering target. This keeps valuable ingredients from being used just for movement when a cheaper Smoothie would give the same Dive and Surf access.
Drinking a Smoothie and Offering One Are Different Decisions
Drink a Smoothie when the immediate goal is underwater travel. Its direct benefit is Surf while Diving, which helps with a long cave, repeated travel through Bubbly Basin, or a material route that would otherwise take several slow trips.
Offer a Smoothie when you want the recipe's listed secondary effect. For example, Sea Grapes Smoothie is the relevant choice when pursuing Ho-Oh or Lugia, while Refreshing Soda is the one to reserve for better shop stock. The movement benefit is shared by all Smoothies, so the special ingredients only need to be spent when the offering effect is part of your plan.
Before You Start a Deep Route
Check four things before leaving the town: you have learned Dive, you have Cut Watermelon rather than whole Watermelon, you have made the Smoothie you intend to drink, and you have not accidentally spent a rare named-recipe ingredient meant for an offering. That short check avoids the common problem of reaching a distant cave entrance with a whole Watermelon or an empty Mixer inventory.
Efficient Smoothie Preparation
- Reach Bubbly Basin Environment Level 2 and buy Watermelon Seeds.
- Grow Watermelon, then ask a Cut Trees-specialty Pokemon to make Cut Watermelon.
- Finish the Bubbly Basin story and Mudkip's request to obtain the Mixer.
- Make several Smoothies before a long Dive route.
- Keep special ingredients such as Sea Grapes, Leppa Berries, Psy Soda, and Moomoo Milk for the offering effects you want.
Choosing a Recipe
Make a basic Watermelon Smoothie when the only goal is underwater Surf and you do not want to spend rare ingredients. Choose Sea Grapes Smoothie when looking for Ho-Oh or Lugia, and use the other named recipes when their offering bonus matches your current goal. The Mixer is also a reason not to process just one Watermelon at a time: a small reserve of Cut Watermelon lets you react to the ingredient you find.
Smoothie FAQ
Can I Surf while Diving without a Smoothie?
No. The Smoothie is the confirmed item that enables Surf during Dive.
Why does the Mixer reject my Watermelon?
The recipe needs Cut Watermelon. Process the whole fruit through a Pokemon with the Cut Trees specialty.
Do all Smoothies improve underwater movement?
Yes. The named recipes all upgrade Surf while Diving; their ingredient differences determine the offering effect.
