Pokopia Cooking Guide: All Recipes, Tools & Effects

Complete cooking guide for Pokémon Pokopia. Learn how to unlock cooking, craft all 4 tools, cook every dish, and power up your moves with food buffs.

Author: Pokopia Guide Team

Cooking is one of the most useful systems in Pokémon Pokopia. Food fully restores your PP and powers up specific moves, making it essential for exploration and habitat building. This guide covers everything from unlocking cooking to every recipe and its effects. You can also browse all dishes on the Cooking page.

How to Unlock Cooking

Cooking is unlocked during the Rocky Ridges story (the third island). You'll encounter Chef Dente, a special Greedent trapped inside a barrel. After rescuing him, he teaches you how to cook meals that power up your abilities. From that point on, you can cook at any cooking station.

Cooking Tools

You need to craft 4 cooking tools at a Workbench. Each tool is used for a different type of dish:

Cooking Effects

Eating food provides two benefits:

  • Fully restores your PP — the yellow PP gauge is completely refilled
  • Powers up a specific move — each dish type enhances a different move:
  • Grow Salads → Leafage Leafage (grow plants)
  • Water Soups → Water Gun Water Gun (extended range)
  • Crush Hamburger Steaks → Rock Smash Rock Smash (break harder rocks)
  • Chop Bread → Cut Cut (wider reach)

The move buff lasts until you use up the powered-up PP.

Pokémon Cooking Helpers

Having a Pokémon with a specific specialty nearby while cooking can change the result:

  • Chop Chop specialty — turns salad into Shredded Salad (e.g., Scyther, Pinsir)
  • Crush Crush specialty — turns salad into Crushed Berry Salad (e.g., Heracross)
  • Burn Burn specialty — turns bread into Bread Bowl (e.g., Charmander, Vulpix)

Make sure your helper Pokémon is following you or placed near the cooking station.

Flavor & Pokémon Preferences

Each dish has a flavor (Sweet, Sour, Spicy, Bitter, Dry). You can gift food to Pokémon matching their flavor preferences to increase their comfort level in habitats. Check each Pokémon's Favorites in the Pokédex to find their preferred flavors.

Tips

  • Always carry ingredients — you never know when you'll need a quick PP refill
  • Place cooking stations near your main workbench for convenience
  • Craft multiple Campfires — you need fire for 3 out of 4 cooking tools
  • Experiment with different Pokémon helpers to discover new recipe variations
