Lumber is one of the most important crafting materials in Pokémon Pokopia, but it's significantly more scarce than Stone. You'll need it to build the Pokémon Center, craft furniture like Storage Boxes, Log Tables, and more. This guide covers every method to get Lumber and how to maximize your supply.
Method 1: Pick Up Lumber from the Ground
The simplest way to get Lumber is to find it scattered across the map. Look for tiny fragments of broken wood on the ground and press Y to pick them up. Each piece equals one unit of Lumber.
Best locations in the Withered Wastelands (first area):
- Dry plains to the right of the entrance
- Higher ground to the left
- Cave beyond the elevated terrain
You may also find neatly stacked piles of lumber — these yield the same amount as scattered fragments.
This method is slow. For large quantities, use the Chop method below.
Method 2: Convert Small Logs into Lumber (Recommended)
This is the most efficient way to get Lumber. The process works in two steps:
Step 1: Get Small Logs
Small Logs are the raw material for making Lumber. You can obtain them by:
Cutting down trees — Use the Cut move on trees and worn lumber scattered throughout the Withered Wastelands- Receiving gifts from Pokémon in the area
- Checking sparkling water ripples near beaches
Step 2: Give Logs to a
Chop Pokémon
Find a Pokémon with the
Chop specialty, speak to it and select "Look at this", then pick Small Logs from your inventory.
Conversion rate: 10 Small Logs → 50 Lumber
You can give a maximum of 10 Small Logs at once. This is significantly more efficient than making Bricks or Paper through similar processes.
Tip: If you speak to the Pokémon while it's still working, it will give you whatever Lumber it has already finished chopping. If you wait until it's done, the Pokémon will come find you to deliver the rest.
Pokémon with
Chop Specialty
The three Pokémon with the
Chop specialty available in the Withered Wastelands (first area) are:
| Pokémon | Type | Specialties | How to Find |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scyther | Bug / Flying | Chop | Create a Tree-Shaded Tall Grass habitat |
| Pinsir | Bug | Chop, Build | Create a Tree-Shaded Tall Grass habitat |
| Heracross | Bug / Fighting | Chop, Build | Create a Tree-Shaded Tall Grass habitat |
How to Create a Tree-Shaded Tall Grass Habitat
To attract these Pokémon, place 4 Tall Grass patches around any Large Tree in the Withered Wastelands. This creates the Tree-Shaded Tall Grass habitat, which will draw in Scyther, Pinsir, and other Pokémon.
